If we can do it, surely Dr. Kato is right.  However, if the SRc 
stage is so short in stellar evolution,  there exist only about 300 
(for example)  SRc variables in our Galaxy, may be.   

We may ought to consider it in reverse order.  Our rate of catching 
supernovae in our Galaxy constraints the total number of nearby SRc 
variables.
