[vsnet-chat 18] Purkynje (Purkinje)

Re vsnet-chat 14, 15, & 16
His Czech name is Jan Evangelista Purkyn\v{e} (\v{e} is
used in TeX, computational composing system, to represent
e with something like v above it. Pronounce: yan
evangelista poorkinye. g is hard like g in go, oo is short,
r is trilled like in Russian of Italian, accents on the
first syllables). He was a professor at the
Karel University (Charles University, or Prague University).
His tomb is in the national cemetery at Vyshehrad, Praha.
In 1996 July I visited this cemetery. Not far from Purkynje
reposes also Zdenek Kopal. In that travel to attend Universal
Esperanto Congress in Praha, I was also in Brno, where I met
Rudolf Novak, Nicholas Copernicus Observatory. I hope he or
other vsnet member in Czech Republic will give some more
information.
