[vsnet-campaign 1332] VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary




VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary

Due to network troubles in our department, this week's "Campaign
Summary" may have not-all information posted to VSNET.  Delayed or
re-posted mails will be shown in the next week's summary. 

*** Last week news ***

(new targets)
  GRB 020813		(RA = 19h46m41s.874, Dec = -19d36'04".81)

    B. Monard reported his detection of the afterglow of GRB 020813 at
  20.0CR mag on August 13.719 (UT) with a 12" telescope
  (vsnet-campaign-grb 4).


  SN 2002ek		(RA = 20h32m08s.50, Dec = -15d17'57".9)

    An apparent host galaxy of SN 2002ek is 2MASXi J2032087-151751, a
  small (probably) distant galaxy (vsnet-campaign-sn 462).

  
  SN 2002el		(RA = 20h56m30s.09, Dec = -18d33'34".3)

    NGC 6986, the host galaxy of sn 2002el, is a probably lenticular
  galaxy.  It possibly makes a cluster with many galaxies including IC
  1336 and IC 1339.  From the recession velocity of these members, the
  expected maximum for typical sn ia is mag about 17.1
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).  ESO and Calar Alto Observatory took spectra
  of SN 2002el on Aug. 14 UT, which shows that it is of SN Ia on or
  before the maximum light.  The expected magnitude estimated from the
  recession velocity is consistent with the above estimate
  (vsnet-campaign-sn 464).   
  

(continuous targets)
  SN 2002eh             (RA = 02h26m08s.45, Dec = +31d54'45".2)

    From its spectra taken by the UCB team, it turned out to be of SN
  Ia, about a month after maximum light (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).


  SN 2002ea		(RA = 02h08m25s.08, Dec = +14d20'52".8)

    The UCB team showed it is of type IIn (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).

  
  SN 2002ee		(RA = 14h51m40s.55, Dec = +40d36'37".3)

    The object turned out to be type II SN (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).


  V Sge                 (RA = 20h20m14s.75, Dec = +21d06'09".0)

    The object is reported to be brightening to 10th mag on August 15
  (vsnet-campaign-nl 94).  


  Z UMi                 (RA = 15h02m01s.35, Dec = +83d03'48".7)

    The fading trend seems to stop at about 11.5mag
  (vsnet-campaign-rcb 62).


  V729 Sgr		(RA = 19h16m49s.15, Dec = -26d14'33".2)

    R. Stubbings reported an outburst (13.5mag) of this eclipsing
  dwarf nova on August 16 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2727).


  SN 2002dr	        (RA = 22h51m01s.00, Dec = +31d22'23".0)

    From the spectroscopy by the UCB team, it turned out to be type Ia
  SN, about a half year after maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).


  SN 2002dx             (RA = 23h57m06s.73, Dec = +29d50'15".5)

    The UCB team revealed that it is of type Ia, about 2 months after
  maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).


  SN 2002eb		(RA = 22h19m05s.24, Dec = +24d35'39".8)

    It is of type Ia near maximum.  Thus it was caught about 2 weeks
  before maximum (vsnet-campaign-sn 463).
 

  BF Ara		(RA = 17h38m10s.40, Dec = -47d10'43".4)

    An outburst to 14.4mag was detected by R. Stubbings on August 14.
  The object further brightened to 14.0mag on August 16 and 13.9mag on
  August 17 (vsnet-campaign-dn 2726).  The light curve obtained by
  G. Bolt clearly shows fully grown superhumps with amplitudes of 0.25
  mag and a period of 0.086 d.  This observation has established the
  SU UMa-type nature of BF Ara.  BF Ara is shown to have the shortest
  supercycle lengths except ER UMa stars (Kato et al. 2001, IBVS
  5119).  T. Kato commented that BF Ara thus could be a "missing link"
  between classical SU UMa-type dwarf novae and ER UMa stars
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2732).  The superoutburst continues
  (vsnet-campaign-dn 2733). 


  AH Her		(RA = 16h44m09s.99, Dec = +25d15'02".1)

    The object may enter a standstill (vsnet-campaign-dn 2734).


  ES Aql		(RA = 19h32m21s.58, Dec = -00d11'31".2)

    The fading continues.  The object is now at about 13.2mag 
  (vsnet-campaign-rcb 61).


  DH Aql		(RA = 19h26m12s.05, Dec = -10d15'21".4)

    The superoutburst has finished.  No rebrightening has been
  reported (vsnet-campaign-dn 2729).


  SN 2002dz		(RA = 00h13m34s.08, Dec = -05d5'45".7)

    The UCB team revealed that it is an old SN Ic (in the nebular
  phase) from the spectrum taken on Aug. 10 UT (vsnet-campaign-sn
  464). 


  IP Peg		(RA = 23h23m08s.7, Dec = +18d24'59".1)

    The object is fading from outburst (vsnet-campaign-dn 2730).
