We have received the following e-mail from Dr. Marsh. They schedule HST observations on EM Cyg and call for a campaign. The observations will be made with the Fine Guidance Sensor (FGS) with the purpose of resolving the EM Cyg binary from a third star known to contaminate optical spectra of EM Cyg (North et al 2000). Depending upon how close this star is to EM Cyg, useful constraints can be placed upon the evolution of EM Cyg prior to its becoming a cataclysmic variable. The resolution of the FGS depends upon the magnitude difference between EM Cyg and the third star, thus it would be useful to know how bright EM Cyg is at the time of the HST observations. Therefore I would like to ask observers whether they can take a look at EM Cyg, especially around 12-13:00 UT on July 29. thank you in advance for your efforts, Tom Marsh - --------------------------------------------------------------- Dr T.R.
