TV Crv superhumps on Feb. 19: super-QPOs

Dear Colleagues,

The Kyoto observation on Feb. 19 (Uemura et al.) of TV Crv has shown
still immature superhumps, with an amplitude of 0.1 mag or less.
The development of superhumps in TV Crv took 2 or 3 days after the
ignition of the outburst.

The most striking feature in the Feb. 19 light curve is the presence
of "super-QPOs", giant quasi-periodic oscillations only seen at the early
(or fading) epochs of some SU UMa-type systems. The best studied one
was observed in SW UMa.

   cf.
   http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/DNe/superqpo.html

The super-QPOs in TV Crv had an amplitude of ~0.1 mag (thus nearly
exceeding the amplitude of superhumps), and a typical period of 10 min.
This discovery makes TV Crv as one of rare SU UMa-type systems with
prominent super-QPOs. It may not be a mere coincidence that both SW UMa
and TV Crv are systems with low outburst frequencies, or are short-period
systems. The real-time research is intensively in progress.
