UV Per superoutburst: rapid fading and superhumps Dear Colleagues, G. Masi has reported the crucial Jan. 6 observation (vsnet-alert 5531). The data show the object about 1.0 mag fainter than the Jan. 5 Kyoto run. These data indicate the rapid fading continued at least until Masi's run. The light modulation seen in Masi's data are quite similar to superhumps in profile. This may be another indication of "late superhump", whose confirmation requires further observation and precise analysis presently vigorously undertaken by Iwamatsu-san. However, such high-amplitude (having a regular profile) late superhumps are not very frequently met. This may be an suggestion of ongoing another event in the accretion disk. The Kyoto team (guided by Uemura-san) is now observing UV Per, and will continue monitoring further development of the system. Regards, VSNET Collaboration team
