Re: [vsnet-campaign 507] V452 Cas outburst The comment regarding care in separating the variable from its close (7") companion (15.8V) should be well noted during the current outburst. To assist observers during this outburst here is a revised sequence. See note 3 in particular. Stars 1, 2 and 3 are saturated and they should be used for guidance only until accurate magnitudes are determined. 2. There is a bright star located only 100 arcsec south of V452 Cas that has reliable Tycho-2 photometry: V=9.66 +/-0.02. Additionally there are at least four other bright stars in this field. 3. There is a red companion to V452 Cas, star #12 in this sequence, which in the past has been incorrectly identified as the variable. The real V452 Cas is 7 arcsec NNW of this 15.8V red star and is about 3 magnitudes fainter at minimum. Take care to correctly identify the variable as the fainter northern component of this double when the variable is at minimum. Bruce Sumner 31 July 2000 Revised 20 September 2000
