Date: Fri, 8 Nov 2002 11:20:36 +0100 (MET) From: MIRABEL Felix <mirabel@discovery.saclay.cea.fr> Subject: MINE OBSERVATIONS OF CYG X-1 Dear colleagues, INTEGRAL is performing as expected. As part of the commissioning time it will point to Cygnus X-1 for 1 million seconds between November 24 and December 6. In the context of the "MINE" collaboration (http://elbereth.obspm.fr/~fuchs/mine.html), monitoring programs are recommended for this period. On the other hand, we have selected the following periods as the best for detailed observations: November 26 00:40 to 23:50 UTC December 4 00:00 to 24:00 UTC For these two days proposals to NRAO VLA & VLBA were submitted asking the data to be public. The same was requested to RXTE. Observing Cygnus X-1 with other telescopes would be of much interest. The X-ray spectrum of Cygnus X-1 is hardenning and this may be a great opportunity. For further information, please, be in contact with Yael Fuchs (yfuchs@discovery.saclay.cea.fr). Best regards, Felix Mirabel & Yael Fuchs ******************************* FELIX MIRABEL. fmirabel@cea.fr Service d'Astrophysique Centre d'Etudes de Saclay 91191 Gif-sur-Yvette.
