[vsnet-campaign-xray 25] XTE J1118+480 activity during JD 2451740 - 2451750
Dear colleagues,
I report preliminary results of analysis on the data obtained during
JD 2451740 - 2451750 at Kyoto.
The X-ray nova, XTE J1118+480 keeps the relatively rapid decline.
The decline rate for this ten days are calculated to be 0.044 mag/d.
It will become one magnitude fainter than peak within a few days.
You can see the decline trend in a new light curve at:
http://www.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/Xray/xtej1118-camp.html
Performing a period analysis, I obtained the period of 0.1700(4) d from
1373 data points during this ten days. This period, however, is not the
best candidate of one, and other dominant peaks are exist.
This must be due to multiple peaks which can be seen in the phase averaged
light curve available at the same web page. From around JD 2451730,
the multiple peaks appeared in light curves, and we confirmed it is a
real feature through the light curve during JD 2451740 - 2451750.
The interval of each humps looks variable.
Now we cannot observe this object through one period, but under a good
condition, over three hours run is still possible.
The observations at different longitude are urged.
The object shows a new face in every week.

Makoto Uemura
