Date: Tue, 7 Jan 2003 10:00:14 +0100 (CET) From: Ulisse Munari <munari@pd.astro.it> It will be also quite relevant to report accurate photometry of some nearby stars of known color to check the color correction to apply to the unfiltered TP 4415-hyp observations (the substantial reddening made V838 Mon appreciably red even in quiescence). A chart with identified stars of quite different B-V color can be found, for example, in http://ulisse.pd.astro.it/V838_Mon/ Could the original film be digitized and made available on the web ? If V838 Mon really was 2 mag brighter than in quiescence in 1998, it would shape the interpretation of the nature of the object.
