Subject: brightening of v838mon

We experienced a 0.3 magnitude brightening of v838 MON 02 on March 4 over
March 1.  On the previous date the magnitude was recorded photoelectrically
(CCD) at mag. V = 8.17 (3 estimates) and confirmed visually.

Last night (March 4) was measured using same parameters at V = 7.82.

It was noticeably brighter even upon acquisition in the 125mm guiding
refractor on the primary instrument!
