Dear Taichi Kato,

You were kind enough to include in your list of V838 estimates two of my
measurements I made on early 5 February and that I reported in an email sent
in response to a question about whether V838 had disappeared.

I should inform you that I am in no way a professional astronomer.  I am
merely an amateur with a 6" Newtonian in my backyard.  I have been making
visual estimates of V838 over the last few days using the 66 and 74
comparables on the AAVSO B chart.  I am confident of my estimates but did
not want to mislead you as to the degree of technical expertise behind my
reports.

With that caveat in mind, I would like to report to you two additional
estimates for you to consider as you like:

6 Feb 2002 3:57 UT     6.8
