V4641 Sgr: activity just before the rapid fading
We have received new data sets which were kindly sent from G. Bolt,
B. Heathcote, and J. Beninger. As reported before, the object experienced
rapid fading on August 7. The behavior of short-term variations on
August 6 and 7 is quite analogous to that on 2002 May 24 and 25, around
the rapid fading stage of the 2002 outburst. The object showed rapid
optical variations around the maximum, and then, showed a repeating
~1-mag flares during the rapid fading stage.
During the 2002 acitive phase, we detected several short flares even
after the May outburst. Now, V4641 Sgr is reported to be faint, however,
may experience renewed active states within the next couple of months.
In fact, 0.2-0.3 mag optical flashes were detected by B. Heathcote on
August 9. Further observations are urged.

Makoto Uemura
