I thought you would be interested to hear that observations at the
Yale 1m telescope at CTIO 2002-05-20 at UT 6:37 confirm the optical
brightening you report of this source - we find that the V-band magnitude
is 2.1 magnitudes brighter than quiescence.  Feel free to pass this
information on to your observing network.  Nice work picking this up!!
