VSNET campaign target list (2003 June 30)

Call for papers -- PASJ special edition on VSNET
We have been informed that PASJ (Pulication of Astrnomical Society
of Japan, an international refereed journal) is planning to publish
a special featured issue on VSNET. The special issue is planned to
be published in early 2004.
This issue will deal with original papers and recent scientific
achievements of the VSNET Collaboration, and contributed papers in
collaboration with the VSNET or papers based on the VSNET public data
(analysis of the data, correlation studies with other observations etc.).
We appreciate submissions of articles related to this topic.
Any submissions, including the ones from outside the usual VSNET core
collaboration members, are welcome. Please relay this message to
those who are potentially interested. Although there is no fixed
deadline for the submission, it will usually take (at minimum)
several months before final publication. This time includes the
reviewing period by expert referees, typesetting, proofreading, and
actual publishing. We therefore strongly encourage *earliest possible*
submissions.

Just for the reminder, the most recent issue of PASJ includes the
articles on a recent memorable gamma-ray burst last year (GRB 021004)
and the superoutburst study of the 2002 "New Year Outburst" of HV Vir,
both conducted by the VSNET Collaboration.

(1) NSV 09923: newly identified SU UMa star (now in superoutburst), selected
from ROSAT identification and outburst detected by Rod Stubbings.
Superhumps (Psh about 0.082 d) are clearly detected by Berto Monard.
Top priority target. Best position 17:59:16.53 -42:35:07.3 (J2000.0).

(2) KK Tel: superoutburst. Fresh superhumps recorded by Tom Richards.
Please continue this excellent coverage (Psh = 0.087-0.088 d).
(3) RX Cha: possible superoutburst. Detection of superhumps is highly
desired. Circumpolar object.
(4) V803 Cen: definite superoutburst, now entered a new stage of
damping oscillation to a more stable(?) plateau phase.
The present variation very much resembles that of "oscillatory"
rebrightening stage of the 2001 superoutburst of WZ Sge (see abobe URL).

(5) IM Nor: eclipsing recurrent nova. Data requested by Hachisu-san.

(6) MV Lyr: short-term variations with time scales of 10-30 min are
dominant. QPOs with P about 10-11 min sometimes become prominent
Excellent coverage from different observers. No clear superhump
signal is recorded up to now. We may also receive V449 Lyr observations
in the same field (19 07 35.68 +43 59 53.0, J2000.0; the GCVS position
is incorrect). Although V449 Lyr is not particularly a campaign target,
the reported data will be forwarded to vsnet-ecl members for further
analysis.
(7) GO Com: rare superoutburst of the large-amplitude SU UMa-type.
Now in post-superoutburst stage (mag about 17). Will be dropped from
the list soon. We have received further (during outburst) data from
Tonny Vanmunster; in case you have unreported data, please send them
to vsnet-campaign-report.

Objects recently dropped from the list: V699 Oph (likely normal outburst,
observe if it brightens again), VY Scl and V504 Cen (continuous targets,
lower priority now), V1494 Aql (lower priority now).
Please closely watch vsnet-alert and vsnet-outburst for other new
outbursts.
