VSNET campaign target list (2003 June 25)

General Remarks in Gamma-Ray Bursts (GRBs)
Since these "VSNET campaign target lists" will not be usually
in time for ongoing gamma-ray burst (GRB) afterglows, we encourage
posting your GRB observations to vsnet-grb-info and vsnet-campaign-grb
whenever you succeed in observing GRB afterglows. These reports can
be only preliminary ones, and report fully analyzed observations to
vsnet-campaign-report. You are free to report the results to the GCN
circulars on your observer's own judgement. We are going to best
qualify the reported GRB observations under the name of VSNET-GRB
Collaboration, as best substantiated in the recent spectacular event
GRB 030329 (Uemura et al., Nature 423, 843: reprints of this paper
will be become available upon request to Uemura-san). If there is
a question whether or not to publicly report certain GRB observations
(this decision is sometimes required depending on the final form of
publication), please feel free to ask us for technical details.

(1) V699 Oph: possible SU UMa star. Companion to a close non-variable star.
Mislabelled as "non-CV" in some literature. Rapid fading observed.
The object may have rebrightened today (Mike Simonsen, being awaited
for confirmation). If this rebrightening is confirmed, the object
may have entered the true "superoutbursting" stage -- tonight's observation
will be very important then.
(2) KK Tel: likely superoutburst. known as a long-period SU UMa star with
an unusual superhump period change (see Kato et al. 2003 MNRAS 339, 861).
The present outburst would provide an excellent ooportunity to study the
behavior in more detail. Note that there is a close star of a similar
brightness. Whenever possible (although not always possible in certain
software packages), please choose your software option to exclude the
close companion.
(3) V803 Cen: definite superoutburst, now entered a new stage of
damping oscillation to a more stable(?) plateau phase.
The present variation very much resembles that of "oscillatory"
rebrightening stage of the 2001 superoutburst of WZ Sge (see abobe URL).

(4) GO Com: rare superoutburst of the large-amplitude SU UMa-type.
Now in post-superoutburst stage (mag about 16-17) linearly fading
at a rate of 0.1 mag/d. Rebrightening(s) are expected, unless the
system fails to trigger a disk-instability. Observations at this
stage are important in constraining the physics of dwarf novae.
Please continue monitoring, and turn to the priority 1 if it erupts
again.

(5) V504 Cen: bright overlooked VY Scl star, now at maximum (mag about 13).
Position: 14:12:49.11, -40:21:37.1 (J2000.0).
(6) MV Lyr: short-term variations with time scales of 10-30 min are
dominant. QPOs with P about 10-11 min sometimes become prominent
Excellent coverage from different observers. No clear superhump
signal is recorded up to now. We may also receive V449 Lyr observations
in the same field (19 07 35.68 +43 59 53.0, J2000.0; the GCVS position
is incorrect). Although V449 Lyr is not particularly a campaign target,
the reported data will be forwarded to vsnet-ecl members for further
analysis.
(7) VY Scl: rare faint state. Visible in the morning only.
Please closely watch vsnet-alert and vsnet-outburst for other new
outbursts.
