OK, my error (sort of) these are GSC 1.2 coordinates but not in what is
considered the "correct" format and I think star 1 and 2 are reversed,
GSC entries are in the following format:
		GSC FFFFF-NNNNN

so these entries should be:

	GSC 01205-01059 not GSC1205.1059
	GSC 01205-00789 not GSC1205.789

If you look at the coordinates for these you see:

Target RA Dec Epoch
GSC 01205-01059 01 36 14.63	+15 44 58.0	1983.680
GSC 01205-00789 01 36 19.53	+15 45 21.8	1983.680

Now M74 is at 01 36 41.84 +15 46 59.6 (FK5 2000.0/2000.0),
now star 1 is closer to the SN (and also M74) than star 2,
so its RA should be larger, and thus be GSC 01205-00789. I have
checked this using a Digitized Sky Survey image, I get
for star 1 1:36:19.5 15:45:22 and for star 2 1:36:14.6 15:44:57.

Sorry about all this, I just want to say its a great resource you guys
have up,
