Dear SN watchers, The CfA team reported the classifications for two more SNe. The spectra can be seen at: http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/cfa/oir/Research/supernova/RecentSN.html . SN 2003it: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 708] (Oct. 16): >SN2003it 20031013.13 172C Puc > ># SN 2003it (0:05:48.47, +27:27:09.6 (J2000.0), offset = 1"E, 11"N) is ># hosted by UGC 40, a barred-spiral (SB?) galaxy. The expected ># maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 16.9. It is a type Ia SN, a few days before maximum on Oct. 19.18 UT. SN 2003iv: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 710] (Oct. 19): >SN2003iv 20031008.4 <190:C KAI >SN2003iv 20031017.4 172:C KAI >SN2003iv 20031018.4 171:C KAI > ># SN 2003iv (2:50:07.25, +12:50:46.5 (J2000.0), offset = 23"W, 8"N) is ># hosted by PGC 10738, a compact galaxy. The discovery magnitude is ># consistent with (but somewhat brigher than) the expected maximum for ># normal SNe Ia. It is also a type Ia SN, near maximum on Oct. 19.38 UT.
