Dear SN watchers, IAUC 8091 reported the classifications of several recent SNe. Belows are what has not been introduced in vsnet-campaign-sn ML previously. SN 2003bt: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 578] (Mar. 11) >SN2003bt 20030202.4 <185C SCH >SN2003bt 20030309.3 167C SCH >SN2003bt 20030310.3 167C SCH > ># SN 2003bt (10:55:22.48, -7:39:12.3 (J2000.0), offset = 12" due west) ># is hosted by MCG -01-28-006, a face-on barred-spiral galaxy. The ># new object is superimposed on the western arm. There is a ># foreground star (USNO-A2.0 red mag 18.4) about 22" due west of the ># nucleus of MCG -01-28-006, so the new object lies a midway of the ># nucleus and the foreground star. The expected maximum for typical ># SN Ia is consistent with the discovery magnitude. The CfA team revealed that it is a type Ia SN about 2 weeks after maximum on Mar. 11.25. The NED gives an essential note as: "MCG decs for MCG -01-28 field are 10 arcmin too far north (MCG4 errata)". The NED supplies the correct position. SN 2003br: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 576] (Mar. 9) >SN2003br 20020701.3 <190:C KAI >SN2003br 20030307.5 174:C KAI >SN2003br 20030308.5 174:C KAI > ># SN 2003br (14:34:34.98, -27:59:48.8 (J2000.0), offset = 2"W, 5"N) is ># hosted by MCG -05-34-18, a tilted spiral (SAB(rs)cd:) galaxy. The ># expected maximum for typical SN Ia is mag about 15.5. A spectrum taken on Mar 11.47 by the CfA team revealed that it is a type II SN. SN 2003bp: In [vsnet-campaign-sn 579] (Mar. 11): > The CfA team reports the classifications of two recent SNe on their >Web page: >... > A spectrum taken on Mar. 10 revealed that it is type Ib supernova, >but the He line is weaker than normal SN Ib. They suggest that it >would be a transitional object between SN Ib and Ic. The LBNL team also report that a spectrum taken on Mar 8.22 shows it to be an early SN Ib with somewhat weaker He lines.
