[vsnet-campaign-sn 266] Types for recent SNe

Dear SN watchers,

IAUC 7737 informed the spectral types of several recent SNe. The
recent informations about SNe I have commented are summerized as
below.

SN 2001ez in PGC 17642 (vsnet-campaign-sn 264)

The spectrum taken on Oct. 19.49 at F. L. Whipple Observatory (and
also at Lick Observatory) revealed that it is of type II. It seems to
be shortly after the maximum light. The reported magnitude (mag about
17.6 on Oct. 18.5) is consistent for a typical SN II in this galaxy.

SN 2001ew in anonymous galaxy (vsnet-campaign-sn 263)

The spectrum taken on Oct. 20 at Lick Observatory shows that this SN
is of type Ia a few days after maximum light. No other photometry has
been reported than the discovery.

Sincerely Yours,
Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan
