(fwd) HST Initiative, Next Window of Opportunity. Forwarded message from M. Schwartz: Dear SN Searchers, The first phase of the HST initiative has ended. SN 2001eh (thank you Mark Armstrong!) has its UV spectrum taken by the Hubble Space Telescope. This was not the ideal choice, but the only choice. All the telescopes involved for highly detailed spectra, both UV and visual, need a brighter object and one discovered closer to the allotted HST time. The next window of opportunity is NEW supernovae discovered between October 10th and October 15th, with HST observations scheduled for the 16th. Again, please consider temporarily changing your candidate galaxies such that you return to the same galaxies for discovery of very new supernovae and let's hope for a nice bright Ia! Good luck, good hunting! Michael Schwartz Tenagra Observatories
