[vsnet-campaign-sn 185] SN 2001bf

Dear SN watchers,

I have submitted the spectral observation of SN 2001bf for IAU
Circular as below. It is of type Ia, same as SN 2001bg.

SUPERNOVA 2001bf IN MCG +04-42-22
     H. Kawakita, K. Kinugasa, Gunma Astronomical Observatory (GAO); and
H. Yamaoka, Kyushu University, write: "A low-resolition spectrum of
SN 2001bf (IAUC 7620) was taken with GAO 0.65-m telescope (+ GCS
spectrograph) on May 11.61 UT. Though the low S/N ratio, a deep and
broad Si II absorption feature is clearly seen around 610 nm on rather
blue continuum, which indicate that this SN is of type Ia shortly
before maximum light. Other broad absorption features typical for SNe
Ia are also seen."

Sincerely Yours,
Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan
