Good Luck Giovanni, yes patience is a virtue!!, i do hope you catch one, Keith... ----- Original Message ----- From: <gvnn64@libero.it> To: "keithg1" <keithg1@eircom.net> Sent: Monday, March 03, 2003 9:59 AM Subject: Re:[vsnet-campaign-nova 1161] Re: (fwd) no novae recently Hello, I wont just to introduce myself and add my own contribution about this discussion: I'm an Italian amateur astronomer. Since June 2002 I'm monitoring the Milky Way visible from my site (Italy, latitude 46 deg North) looking for novae. I use a 120mm format film (TMAX400) coupled to a 80mm, f/4 and 180mm f/4 teleobjectives. Exposures range from 3 to 15 min, according the sky conditions. Limiting magnitude is around 12 or 14, according the transparency. My last shots were made on Feb. 28 under good sky (mountain site 1400m high, temperature -7 Celsius, limiting magn at zenith almost 6.3) but I still have to finish the inspection of the negatives: blinking the images is very time-consuming, and for each negative I spend almost 3 hours for checking it through a homemade blink-comparator. Up to now I made almost 30 nights of observations, without any success. But as William teaches, we have to be very patient... Regards, Giovanni
