Possible nova in Mon (GSC 4822.39) date of maximum

    The object apparently reached its maximum on Jan. 11-12 in all bands
between B and Ic.  The subsequent decline seems to be slightly faster
in B.  Further multicolor photometry is encouraged.

   [It turned out to be very fortuitous that the discovery and discovery
announcement were made during the rising stage of this peculiar object!]
