Re: V445 Pup (Schmeer) > if a helium dwarf nova like CR Boo or V803 Cen underwent a nova > eruption in the far future would this eruption look similar to > that of V445 Pup? Could be possible. But the brightness of the precursor would be too bright for such short-period helium CVs (if so, the object should be a very nearby one, which seemingly contradicts with the lack of a large proper motion and the likely existence of interstellar absorption). However, this possibility could be a variety of "helium novae", which are only theoretically predicted, and would be a candidate for explaining V445 Pup. (see the PS. part of vsnet-campaign-nova 129). To my knowledge, there is no known prediction of outburst spectra for such objects. Regards, Taichi Kato
