VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary *** Last week news *** (new targets) V407 Vul (RA = 19h14m26s.08, Dec = +24d56'43".4) This object is proposed to be a binary system with a orbital period of 9.49 min (ref. astro-ph/0111358 and reference therein) Long monitoring may be important (vsnet-campaign-1239). FS Aur (RA = 05h47m48s.34, Dec = +28d35'11".1) T. Krajci reported a 0.4-mag sinusoidal pattern in the 3-hr light curve obtained on December 18 (vsnet-campaign-dn 1988). An outburst of 15.5mag was detected by G. Poyner on December 21 (vsnet-campaign-dn 1999). IR Gem (RA = 06h47m34s.58, Dec = +28d06'22".7) As reported by E. Muyllaert on December 16, the outburst of this SU UMa-type dwarf nova was detected at 12.3mag (vsnet-campaign-dn 1989). On Decemver 19, a rapid fading was reported, which indicates it was a normal outburst (vsnet-campaign-dn 1992). UU Aur (RA = 06h36m32s.70, Dec = +38d26'43".9) As seen in the recent reported observations, this SR-type carbon star seems to be experiencing one of the faintest states (~6.6mag) in recent years (vsnet-campaign-mira 2). DK Lac (RA = 22h49m46s.86, Dec = +53d17'18".3) According to IAUC 7777, the old nova DK Lac entered a deep (V = 19.4) faint state. This fading may be related to VY Scl-type phenomenon (or may be associated with V446 Her-like outbursts). Further monitoring is strongly encouraged (vsnet-campaign-nova 661). OJ 287 (RA = 08h51m57s, Dec = 20d17'59") G. Poyner reported that the blazar OJ 287 experienced an outburst of 14.1mag on December 22 (vsnet-campaign-blazar 236). The object was reported to be still faint on November 24 (vsnet-campaign-blazar 237). M. Kidger commented that OJ287 is prone to short-lived flares of up to 1 magnitude amplitude which usually last for only a week (vsnet-campaign-blazar 238). RR Tau (RA = 05h39m30s.53, Dec = +26d22'26".3) RR Tau is now very faint reaching to 13.2mag (vsnet-campaign-orion 1). V723 Cas (RA = 01h05m05s.40, Dec = +54d00'40".8) The MISAO team reported a detection of a small brightening to 13.97mag of V723 Cas = Nova Cas 1995 in 2001 October 13 - 14 (vsnet-campaign-nova 663). SU Tau (RA = 05h49m03s.7, Dec = +19d04'21") Recent observations imply that the object finally returned to maximum of about 10.3mag (vsnet-campaign-rcb 5). 3C 66A (RA = 02h22m39s.6, Dec = +43d02'08") This blazar is now faint at about 14.5mag (vsnet-campaign-blazar 239). kappa CMa (RA = 06h49m50s.45, Dec = -32d30'30".2) The GCAS-type variable kappa CMa is now bright at about 3.6mag as reported by S. Otero and T. Kato (vsnet-campaign-be 148). (continuous targets) DY Per (RA = 02h35m17s.12, Dec = +56d08'44".7) The very slow fading is still ongoing (vsnet-campaign-rcb 3, 4). SN 2001if (RA = 02h28m54s.93, Dec = +38d05'52".7) The Asiago team was revealed that SN 2001if is of type Ia, about 2 weeks after maximum on Dec. 19.87 (IAUC 7779). Though this SN apparently locates somewhat distant (about 70" west) from the nearest galaxy (pair) VV 107, it became certain that SN and this galaxy have similar recession velocities (around 11,400 km/s) by the SN spectrum (vsnet-campaign-sn 301). SN 2001ig (RA = 22h57m30s.69, Dec = -41d02'25".9) This supernova further brightened to 13.0mag on December 19 as reported by A. Pearce (vsnet-campaign-sn 299). IAUC 7777 informed that the radio emission from this SN was detected. Type II/IIb SNe are sometimes a strong radio emitter, because of the interaction of the SN shock with the circumstellar matter which had outflowed from the progenitor during the supergiant phase (vsnet-campaign-sn 300). V1028 Cyg (RA = 20h00m52.13s, Dec = +56d56'22.3") The superoutburst still continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 1991, 1995, 1998). V1039 Cen (RA = 13h55m41s.27, Dec = -64d15'57".9) The object further faded (vsnet-campaign-nova 662). MisV1147 (RA = 22h54m03s.78, Dec = +58d54'02".1) S. Yoshida reported the MISAO observations, and reported the gradual brightening has already started in 2000 October when the object was faint reaching 13.50mag (vsnet-campaign-unknown 2). T. Kato commented that if the object is a pre-main sequence emission-line star, the star may be an object belonging to a small subclass with occasional fadings like WW Vul, BO Cep etc (vsnet-campaign-unknown 3). IW And (RA = 01h01m08s.82, Dec = +43d23'27".3) The object faded by ~2mag as seen in observations by the Kyoto team on December 18 (vsnet-campaign-dn 1990). The fading continued until December 21 when M. Simonsen reported a rebrightening to 14.4mag (vsnet-campaign-dn 1993, 1994). The outburst continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 1996). WZ Sge (RA = 20h07m36s.53, Dec = +17d42'15".3) The slow fading still continues (vsnet-campaign-dn 1997). MV Lyr (RA = 19h07m15s.93, Dec = +44d01'10".7) The object is reported to be brighter (vsnet-campaign-nl 57). *** Future schedule *** Request for observations of Seyfert galaxies The VSNET team have received a request for photometric observations of the following (and possibly other) Seyfert galaxies from Valya Doroshenko.
