[vsnet-campaign-news 45] News from VSNET 45
*** News from VSNET ***
The activity of delta Sco continues. Some observers reported
it is again bright at about 1.8mag.

VSNET (Variable Star Network) is an international variable star observing
network, covering various areas of novae, supernovae, cataclysmic variables
(CVs), X-ray transients, and other classical eruptive, pulsating, and
eclipsing variables. VSNET is one of invited contributing organizations
to the SkyPub AstroAlert system.
The "News from VSNET", mainly focusing on recent remarkable activities of
CVs and related systems, is issued on a weekly basis, except on occasions
of extremely urgent or transient events.

VSNET provides a number of mailing lists, on which various news and topics
are discussed. Subscriptions to the VSNET mailing lists are free of charge;

CCD observations of such targets are a relatively easy task for a 20-40cm
telescope; simply take as many CCD frames (with exposure times 10-30 sec)
as possible, spanning several hours per night. The only requirements are
the weather and your patience! If you need more help on the observing
technique, please feel free to ask on the vsnet-campaign list.
We would sincerely appreciate volunteers who would join the VSNET
Collaboration team to study the wonders of these exotic variable stars.

VSNET Weekly Campaign Summary
*** Last week news ***
(new targets)
KK Tel (RA = 20h28m38s.46, Dec = -52d18'45".6)
As reported by A. Pearch on March 5, a candidate of SU UMa-type
dwarf novae KK Tel experienced an outburst at 13.8mag
(vsnet-campaign-dn 573). It has rather rapidly faded as
reported on March 6, which indicates it is an normal outburst
(vsnet-campaign-dn 575).
FS Aur (RA = 05h47m48s.34, Dec = +28d35'11".1)
According to AAVSO News Flash No. 749, the ultrashort period
dwarf nova FS Aur experienced an outburst. The reported magnitude
(13.84V on Mar. 7.1811 UT) is one of the brightest ones.
This object is peculiar in that no confirmed superoutbursts has
been observed while it has one of the shortest known orbital periods
among dwarf novae (vsnet-campaign 807). The Ouda team performed
photometry and reported that the object was apparently fainter
than the R=15.1 mag star on March 8. The outburst seems to be
a normal one (vsnet-campaign 808).
Z UMi (RA = 15h02m01s.35, Dec = +83d03'48".7)
Several observers have pointed out that Z UMi (R CrB star) may
be slightly (~0.1mag) fainter than usual. The last major fade of
Z UMi was observed in mid-1999 (vsnet-campaign 809).

SN 2001X (RA = 15h21m55s.46, Dec = +05d03'43".1)
M. Moilanen reported their observations of B=15.42, V=15.21,
and R=15.05 on March 6 (vsnet-campaign-sn 159). O. Trondal
reported the magnitude of 14.8C on March 7 (vsnet-campaign-sn 161).
IY UMa (RA = 10h43m56s.87, Dec = +58d07'32".5)
The outburst was rapidly faded as observed on March 5 and 6
(vsnet-campaign-dn 576).
V4643 Sgr (RA = 17h54m40s.43, Dec = -26d14'15".7)
The fading continues (vsnet-campaign-nova 269).
SN 2001V (RA = 11h57m24s.93, Dec = +25d12'09".0)
The object is around the maximum at 14.6mag during the last week
(vsnet-campaign-sn 160).
CP Dra (RA = 10h15m39s.88, Dec = +73d26'05".4)
M. Uemura reported the data taken by the VSNET collaboration
team shows 0.08348 (5) day periodicity, which implies the
decreasing of the superhump period. Their observation on March
6 indicates it entered a rapid fading phase (vsnet-campaign-dn 577).
KR Aur (RA = 06h15m45s.05, Dec = +28d34'16".0)
The current magnitude is about 14.5mag. The bright state
continues (vsnet-campaign 810).
TT Boo (RA = 14h57m46s.46, Dec = +40d43'55".5)
The superoutburst was terminated as reported by G. Gyzman's
observation of <15.1 on March 6 (vsnet-campaign-dn 574).
V445 Pup (RA = 07h37m56s.88, Dec = -25d56'59".1)
M. Uemura reported that very high-speed photometry was performed
at 60-cm telescope on March 8 (vsnet-campaign-nova 267).
It has remained around 10.0mag during the last week
(vsnet-campaign-nova 268).
Delta Sco (RA = 16h00m19s.9, Dec = -22d37'17")
Delta Sco is now again bright. The current magnitude is around
1.8mag (vsnet-campaign-be 63).
V803 Cen (RA = 13h23m44.5s, Dec = -41d44'30".1)
The object became fainter to 14.0-14.4mag on March 6
(vsnet-campaign-dn 579), and then, again bright (13.6mag) on March 11
(vsnet-campaign-dn 580).
MKN 421 (RA = 11h04m27s, Dec = +38d12'32")
The active state continues (vsnet-campaign-blazar 165).
