V551 Sgr: growth time of the superhumps Dear Colleagues, The VSNET Collaboration has received Sep. 22 data from Berto Monard. The data suggest that the superhumps were already present at the time of Monard's second night observation. This finding looks consistent with the presence of low-amplitude variation on his Sep. 21 data. The growth time of the superhumps is not unusually long, probably consistent with the observed superhump period. The observed evolution of the superhumps more resembles the usual evolution of superhumps in relatively short-period normal SU UMa-type dwarf nova rather than unusual WZ Sge-like systems.
