I detected superhumps during 3 nights of the April 2002 superoutburst of this system (see www.cbabelgium.com for full details about the observations, including CCD photometry, periodogram and phase diagrams). In fact, V589 Her could be a very interesting SU UMa-type dwarf nova, as it derived a superhump period of about 0.0947 d, which is inside the so called 'period gap'. In VSNET message "vsnet-campaign-dn 2270", Taichi remarked that the amplitude of the system (about 3 mag) might be too small for an SU UMa-type of object. However, there may be a possibility that the true quiescence of V589 Her is fainter than what was inferred from DSS/USNO/ Henden magnitudes, or that the modulations I observed, have a different nature from usual superhumps (lower amplitude, more irregular profile). In the latter case, the object might be an unusual SU UMa-type system. So, sufficient amounts of unknowns to turn this object into a priority target, provided the present outburst is a superoutburst.
