NSV09923: no fading + refined superhump period Dear Colleagues, We have received new data from Peter Nelson and Berto Monard. The quasi-simultaneous observation by Peter Nelson with Roland Santallo did not confirm the fading. The later observation by Berto Monard has also confirmed the smooth fading trend. The unusual behavior on Roland Santallo's data seems to be of software origin (some commonly used software packages give systematically fainter magnitudes under certain conditions; the present case just follows the same trend what we have experienced in other cases (even?) with AIP4WIN -- we are now accumulating the instances of these "software faults" and the statistics are steadily growing. If you feel that your results look strange, please try a different software package). Based on the data up to now, we have refined the superhump period to be 0.08235(2) d. The superhumps are still clearly visible in phase, but with a slightly reduced amplitude. There is some indication of a beat phenomenon, which needs to be verified with longer baseline (several days) observations. Regards, Taichi Kato VSNET Collaboration team
