1RXP J113123+4322.5: dramatic change!! Dear Colleagues, We have received new observations from Jochen Pietz, Arto Oksanen (Nyrola Observer), Nogami-san (Hida Observatory), and regular observations at Kyoto (Uemura-san and Ishioka-san), RIKEN (Torii-san), Gunma Astrnomical Observatory "GETS" system. During the most recent two days, the superhump period suddenly showed a large decrease! This change makes a clear contrast to SW UMa during the 1996 superoutburst (Semeniuk et al. 1997, Acta Astron. 47, 201; Nogami et al. 1998, PASJ 50, 297), but bear more resemblance to V1028 Cyg (Baba et al. 2000, PASJ 52, 429) or AL Com (e.g. Nogami et al. 1997, ApJ 490, 847). Compared with these past examples, the change in 1RXP J113123+4322.5 has been even more dramatic! The recent superhump timings are well expressed by a period of 0.0647 d, which is 0.5% smaller than the average value before the change. This detection of a sudden change indicates that future evolution of superhumps (and possibly superoutburst) in 1RXP J113123+4322.5 can be highly unpredictable. Further intensive coverage, during the entire superoutburst and the phases following the superoutburst, is therefore very strongly encouraged! Regards, Taichi Kato VSNET Collaboration team
