[vsnet-campaign-dn 2522] V359 Cen: astrometry
Subject: V359 Cen: astrometry
I have done astrometry with R. Santallo's images. Five images has
been measured, and the disparsion among them is very small ( < 0".05).
The coordinates are (GSC-2.2 system, about 20 reference stars):
11:58:15.330 -41:46:08.44 (J2000.0)
which is consistent with the GSC-2.2 entry:
11:58:15.322 -41:46:08.35 r=18.46 b=19.15 Epoch=1995.392
or, with the USNO-A2.0 entry:
11:58:15.330 -41:46:09.16 r=17.7 b=18.7 Epoch=1982.262
The coordinates in GCVS or Downes' online catalog are not so bad (but
a bit south); on the other hand, the quisient magnitude in the latter
(mag 21) seems to be underestimated much, as of Murani & Zwitter
(1998) (V>20.5). The magnitude in Woudt and Warner (2001) (V \sim
18.7) is more reasonable.
Sincerely Yours,
