1RXS J232953.9+062814 spectroscopy in the literature Dear Colleagues, With the help of Yamaoka-san and his colleague, we have been able to read the original discovery paper (Jingyao, H. et al., 1998, Ann. Shanghai Obs., Acad. Sin., 19, 235). According to this literature, the object was spectroscopically observed twice, in outburst and quiescence. The outburst spectrum resembles that of an A-star (but our inspection of the low-resolution spectrum presented in the paper has shown that Balmer lines are weaker than those of a normal A-star, possibly indicating that the absorptions are filled by emission lines). The quiescent spectrum was dominated by Balmer and He I emission lines, indicating that the object is not hydrogen-poor (as in AM CVn stars). The object is thus very likely the second V485 Cen-type object! Furthermore, the brightness of this object is expecteded to provide a far better chance (than in V485 Cen) to study these enigmatic objects below the period minimum. Detailed research using all available equipment is in progress "like a burst" by the VSNET Collaboration team. Regards, Taichi Kato VSNET Collaboration team
