Michael Richmond and Stacey Davis observed WZ Sge in V-band from JD *137.60 to *137.73 on Aug 16 UT. Conditions were poor, with thin clouds gradually becoming thicker and thicker. As usual, you can find a link to a description of the run at http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/wzsge.html or, a direct link to the data at http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug16_2001/wzsge_aug16ut.dat This V-band data may be combined with simultaneous observations in other passbands: B-band data from Tim Hager, and I-band data from Arto Oksanen. I hope that the short period of overlap may be useful to those modeling the outburst. You may recall that I found an eclipsing binary star in the field several weeks ago. Well, my reductions of this run showed what appeared to be _two_ new variables, each oscillating by about +/- 0.1 mag over periods of about 8 minutes. For a short time, I was very happy. However, each of these candidates is very close to a corner of the field of view, and I now think that periodic error in the telescope's worm gear was causing the variations. You can see the data and read my explanation on the night's WWW page: http://spiff.rit.edu/richmond/ritobs/aug16_2001/aug16_2001.html The weather in Rochester will be wet for several days and nights, so I do not anticipate another run soon :-( Michael Richmond
