[vsnet-campaign-dn 227] revised coordinates for IP Peg

The coordinates for IP Peg in the recent VSNET Weekly summary,
and the coordinates for IP Peg in SIMBAD, are incorrect.
The SIMBAD position is

           (wrong) J2000 23:23:10.97 +18:25:12.7

I have looked at the original chart in the discovery paper
by Goranskij et al., IBVS 2653 (1985), and I have also observed
this star myself, last night, Nov 1, 2000 UT. The variable
star is the middle star in a row of three, at a position

  (roughly correct) J2000 23:23:08.8 +18:25:01

This position is a rough estimate, based on the interactive
Aladin tool. The important thing to note is that the variable
is the middle star of the three, not the star on the northeast
end of the three.

If someone has measured the position accurately, please tell
us and give us a truly precise position.

By the way, the star was varying strongly on Nov 1, 2000 UT.
Is anyone planning to combine data from different observers for
this star? If so, please tell me, and I'll send you my measurements.

                                       Michael Richmond
