[vsnet-campaign-deltavel 21] RE: [vsnet-chat 3751] DELTA VELORUM photometry
Hi, Stan and all:
Omicron Velorum is a BCEP star that varies
between 3.55 and 3.67, so it shouldn't be used.
If you need stars as bright as the variable, (which are obviously very much
further away) then you can use the stars yiu are suggesting, which are part
of the visual sequence.
Kappa Velorum V= 2.49 B-V= -0.19 It's OK, no variability.
Iota Carinae V= 2.245 B-V= +0.18 Suspected small amplitude
variability. Measured between 2.23 and 2.28...
I hope your skies clear up!!
Cheers,
Sebastian.
I noted the two recommended stars for comparisons. They're a little too
faint as compared to the variable for CCD use on my system. I wondered about
BS 3447 (omicron), also iota and kappa. None are exactly the right spectral
type but I can't find any notes about variability.
