[vsnet-be 14] V862 Sco bumf...
The following is from the remarks file of Hoffleit's _Supplement_ to the
4th ed of the Yale Bright Star Catalogue:
===========================================================
> 160202 S: (a) Also classified B1ne, B3V.
> 160202 Var: (a) V862 Sco. @gC type variable? Usually
> 160202 Var: (b) 6.63-6.76V; decreased to 9.50V June 24,
> 160202 Var: (c) 1965; outburst to 2mag on July 3, 1965.
> 160202 G: (a) NGC 6405.32. M6. Near HII 325.
============================================================
Note a _lowering_ of magnitude afore an increase
[pure speculation bit: an increase in circumstellar matter causing a
fade, which is cleared during a consequent outburst from an accreted
upon compact companion, which event temporarily brightened the whole
system. Note the spectrum of this star is usually very blended/blurred,
so even detection of a single line spectroscopic binary would be
difficult].
