Historically brightest Be star outbursts Could someone tell us the historically brightest Be star outbursts? Every northern observer would probably know gamma Cas itself underwent an outburst reaching mv=1.6, but I know little about southern objects. Are there any similar recorded bright star phenomena? I know alpha Eri is a Be star (V=0.5), but is not very variable. The other two stars Sebastian listed have much fainter (alpha Ara: 2.86 - 3.00 V; eta Cen: 2.30 - 2.41 V). Regards, Taichi Kato
