[vsnet-alert 6343] Nova Cyg 2001 No. 2 progenitor

Astrometry by H. Abe (IAUC 7686):
R.A. 21h03m02.00s Decl. +48o45'52.9" (J2000.0)

Within 1" of this position is the following USNO-A2.0 star:
R.A. 21h03m02.017s Decl. +48o45'53.55" (2000.0) r= 18.8 b= 19.6

On the DSS image there is another mag 19 star 5" to the NNW and a
mag 20-21 star 4" to the NE of the USNO star.

If the USNO star is the progenitor the the nova would be currently
12 magnitudes brighter than at quiescence.

Regards,
Patrick
