Kato-san neglected one source information: the DENIS MC catalogue.
There it is object DCMC J052401.65-710934.8, and is given with magnitudes
I = 10.20, J = 8.73, and K = 7.75. In both 2MASS and DENIS, the J-K color
is about 1.0, which is the color of an unreddened giant near M0, or a
mid-M dwarf. The H-alpha emission and the x-ray source both suggest (to me)
a flaring M dwarf, but a look at the three SIMBAD entries for the star
indicate something more pathological could be happening---and clearly the
literature gives no consensus.
