[vsnet-alert 5903] Re: Nova Aql 2001 very rapidly fading?



     The inconsistency in the observations is probably best explained
by the mix of instrumental photometric systems (including visual), the
emission-line nature of the nova spectrum, and also the strong reddening
that must apply here.  That last is merely an assumption on my part, but
since the nova is not bright, and considering its location with respect to
the Milky Way dark rift (right in it!), the object must be substantially
reddened.  Thus it will be important for observers to specify the comp stars
involved, their assumed magnitudes, instrumental set-up, passband, etc.
The report in [vsnet-alert 5899] does not give any of this, and thus the
observation is not useful.  Could we get the details Didier?
