Hi all,

We discovered an apparent SN in UGC 10243. Below are the
details.

Cheers,

              SN 2001XXX in UGC 10243

   D. Weisz and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley,
report the discovery by LOTOSS (cf. IAUC 7514) of an apparent
supernova (mag about 18.0) on an unfiltered CCD image taken on
Mar 30.5 UT (and confirmed at about the same brightness on an
earlier image taken on Mar 10.5 UT) with the 0.8-m Katzman
Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT). SN 2001XXX is located at
R.A. = 16h10m30s.23, Decl. = +19o57'01".2 (equinox 2000.0),
which is 9".0 east and 13".5 south of the nucleus of UGC 10243.
A KAIT image of the same field taken 2000 Aug 19.3 UT showed nothing
at this position (limiting magnitude about 19.0).
