RZ Leo fading stopped
Dear Colleagues,
The Kyoto observation (observer Uemura) of RZ Leo on Jan. 14 confirms
that the rapid fading of RZ Leo stopped. The object is by only 0.1-0.2 mag
fainter than on Jan. 13, which is only slightly below the pre-rebrightening
level. The present brightness level above quiescence is rather remniscent
of the inter-rebrightening period of the WZ Sge-type star EG Cnc.
(see http://vsnet.kusastro.kyoto-u.ac.jp/vsnet/DNe/egcnc.html ).
There is a hint of short-period modulation comparable to the orbital or
superhump period, which will be further analyzed by Ishioka-san et al.
Further observations are still very encouraged.
Since the Moon is waning, the precautions in the preceding posts
will not be necesary; use longer exposures (if possible) to sufficiently
record the object. The VSNET Collaboration team is willing to receive
raw images and make detailed analysis, if the analysis of faint objects
is difficult at the observer's side.
Although it may be difficult, multicolor (particularly VRI bands)
photometry and/or spectrocopy (to see the NaD line) are desired in order
to check whether there is cool material in the disk, as was observed in
other WZ Sge-type stars.
Regards,
VSNET Collaboration team
