[vsnet-alert 5472] RZ Leo: beat phenomenon?

RZ Leo: beat phenomenon?

Dear Colleagues,

We have finished analyzing the data on Dec. 27, both by the Kyoto team
and Kiyota-san (total of 722 points). The data show rather steep fading
in contrast to observations in Dec. 26. There seem to be a wavy pattern
with a period of 2-3 d in the averaged light curve. The amplitude of
superhumps seems to vary with this period. This is likely caused by
the beat phenomenon between the superhump period and the orbital period,
a natural consequence of a high-inclination system as suggested by
earlier quiescent observations. The observed period is totally consistent
with ther previously suggested superhump and orbital periods.
More detailed analysis of superhump timing and profile analysis is keenly
in progress by Ishioka-san et al.

The VSNET Collaboration team is eager to receive any data on this
superoutburst, in order to reveal this intriguing behavior!

Regards,
VSNET Collaboration team
