Dear SN watchers, Successive Bright SN discovery! The KAIT team has discovered mag 15 SN Ia in the evening sky. The new object locates at: R.A. = 23h19m25s.20, Decl. = +5o54'21".1 (2000.0), which is 0".6 east and 1".2 south of the nucleus of the odd shaped spiral? galaxy IC 1481. It is quite close to the nucleus so the photometry should be done by careful treatment (like image substraction or precise PSF fitting). The reported magnitudes are: Nov. 11.2, 162C; 20.2, 154C; 28.2, 156C. The spectroscopy on Nov. 29 has revealed that this SN is normal type Ia around the maximum light. The recession velocity of the host is 6118 km/s from NED, so the expected maximum is mag 16.2. The reported magnitude can be affected by the backlight of the host, or the be of bright nature of this SN. Followup observation is needed. Sincerely Yours, Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan yamaoka@rc.kyushu-u.ac.jp
