Delta Scorpii brightening continues. Now I can confirm it , since the star is now even brighter than sigma Sagittarii and alpha Ophiuchi. Its normal state was 2.32 but several weeks before seemed to rise to 2.2. Tonight's estimates were: 20000716.9285 THETA SCO 1.86 (1) V (1) EPSILON SCORPII 2.29 = 2.07 = THETA CENTAURI 2.06 = 2.06 THETA SCO 1.86 (2) V (1) GAMMA CENTAURI 2.16 = 2.06 20000717.1236 EPSILON SAGITTARII 1.84 (4) V (1) SIGMA SAGITTARII 2.09v? = 2.04: = ALPHA OPHIUCHI 2.08v? = 2.08: So the star is shining at 2.1, considerably brighter than usual. I hope that some folks out there can do some photometry on Delta Scorpii. We're probably in front of a new GCAS star. Best regards, Sebastián Otero.
