Clear skies, Weidong ---------------- SN 2000xxx in MCG +05-56-007 M. Modjaz, A. B. Aazami, and W. D. Li, University of California at Berkeley, on behalf of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search (cf. IAUC 6627, 7126) with the 0.8-m Katzman Automatic Imaging Telescope (KAIT), report the discovery of an apparent supernova in MCG +05-56-007. The SN was discovered and confirmed on unfiltered images taken on Jul 14.5 UT (mag about 17.4) and Jul 15.5 UT (mag about 17.2), respectively. The new object is located at R.A. = 23h47m25s.10, Decl. = +28o23'15".8 (equinox 2000.0), which is 8".4 east and 21".2 south of the nucleus of MCG +05-56-007. A KAIT image of the same field on Jul 5.5 UT showed nothing at the position of the SN (limiting mag about 19.0). Nova in NGC 185 Modjaz and Li also report the discovery by LOSS of an apparent nova in NGC 185. The nova was discovered and confirmed on unfiltered images taken on Jul 13.5 UT (mag about 18.7) and Jul 14.5 UT (mag about 18.2), respectively. The new object is located at R.A.= 00h39m07s.02, Decl.= +48o20'34".4 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 93" east and 20" north of the diffuse nucleus of NGC 185. A KAIT image of the same field on Jul 11.5 UT (limiting magnitude about 19.0) showed nothing at the position of the nova.
