Hi observers,
I did send this posting two days ago as an alert but it must not have reached the VSNET mailbox....
I hereby resend it mainly for its informative content, relevant in view of the upcoming multiwavelength campaign, scheduled for end of August 2000. At that time PKS 2005-489 will be an early night object.
The Southern Blazar PKS 2005-489 has recently shown a significant brightening as per the following visual observations:
PKS2005-489 000526.92 133 MLF
PKS2005-489 000531.07 131 MLF
PKS2005-489 000605.10 128 MLF
PKS2005-489 000613.12 125 MLF
PKS 2005-489 is located at position (2000) 20 09 25.3 -48 49 54
Convenient comparison stars are:
USNO-A2.0 / RA - DE / V
0375-38542386 / 20 09 48.7 -48 48 51 / 119
0375-38530007 / 20 09 02.3 -48 45 34 / 127
0375-38539714 / 20 09 38.7 -48 46 18 / 135
They have been calibrated against nearby GSPC fields using USNO-A2.0 as the transfer medium. The estimated uncertainty at the 95% confidence level is + or - 0.2 magnitude.
Best regards,
Berto Monard
