Vanzi, L. Testi, Ch. Lidman and A. Maury report their obtention of a spectrum of the possible SN in NGC 3318 discovered by R. Chassagne. A fully reduced spectrum, exposed 30 minutes on DFOSC +1.5m Danish telescope at ESO La Silla shows the typical features of a type II SN, namely a broad H alpha, H beta and He I at 5875 A the later with clear P Cygni profile. Quick look at the SN and spectrum plot is available at http://sc6.sc.eso.org/~lvanzi/sn3318.html Jean Marie Llapasset Obs 635 Perpignan (France) http://perso.wanadoo.fr/jm.llapasset/ http://aude.geoman.net/observation/SN/sn.html
