I suggest that they have measured the slightly brighter red star ~3' NW, whose Tycho-2 B-V is consistent with their b-y. You wouldn't expect an RCB star to be so red when bright but instead roughly solar color. The star NW is probably a garden-variety early-M giant (and presumably it is not V915). \Brian
